The Turks & Caicos Islands squad to play in the 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup has been confirmed.
A 20-man squad has been picked for the tournament, which will be held in Springdale, Arkansas between Wednesday, 13th August and Saturday, 16th August. The Turks & Caicos Islands kick-off their 2025 Outrigger Challenger Cup campaign against fellow Caribbean nation the US Virgin Islands in the opening game on 13th August (7pm CST). They finish the tournament against ‘hosts’ the Marshall Islands on 16th August (1pm CST) with a match against Ozark United U19’s on 14th August (5pm CST).
The 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup will be the Turks & Caicos’ first set of fixtures since the final round of CONCACAF Nations League C Group B games in Belize in October 2024.
The Turks & Caicos recorded a dramatic 2-1 win over Anguilla on 12th October – thanks to a 95th minute penalty from defender Ledson Jerome – before falling to a 3-0 defeat to host nation Belize three days later.
The results saw the Turks & Caicos Islands finish bottom of their three-team CONCACAF Nations League group, albeit only on goal difference from Anguilla.
The Turks & Caicos Islands are ranked 206th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings and are led by head coach Aaron Lawrence, who played in goal for Jamaica at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
The squad
Goalkeepers: Samuel Harvey, Sebastian Turbyfield

Three to watch
Billy Forbes: The 34-year-old forward is the Turks & Caicos Islands’ talisman, and will no doubt lead the line for the Caribbean nation at the 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup. Forbes has written his name into the nation’s record books since making his senior debut against St Lucia in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The striker has gone on to become the Turks & Caicos’ record appearance maker (36 caps) and goalscorer (19 goals). Forbes also has a wealth of playing experience in the USA. The striker, who arrived in the States in 2012, turned out for the likes of USL Championship clubs Detroit City, Miami FC, and San Antonio FC, before returning home to Provo Premier League club SWA Sharks in 2023. He also had
a brief spell at Canadian Premier League outfit Valour FC in 2022.
Samuel Harvey: Quite simply, the 15-year-old goalkeeper is a record breaker. Harvey was called up to the Turks & Caicos’ under-20 squad in 2023 at the age of just 13. The young stopper made his debut for the under-20s in February 2024, before attracting worldwide attention just seven months later. Harvey made his senior bow for the Turks & Caicos Islands in their 2-0 defeat to Anguilla in the CONCACAF Nations League at the tender age of 14. His exploits were covered by the BBC and Sky Sports in the UK – but, quite unbelievably, his achievement isn’t unique for the Turks & Caicos Islands. The goalkeeper became the third 14-year-old to represent the Caribbean nation, following in the footsteps of midfielders
Christopher Louisy – who has also been named in the Turks & Caicos’ 2025 Outrigger Challenger Cup squad – and Watson Jean-Louis.
Makenson Cadet: The 25-year-old blossomed as a player while studying at the
Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. While playing for the university’s
Hardin-Simmons Cowboys soccer team, Cadet was named the American Southwest Conference Midfielder of the Year in 2019, before scooping the American Southwest Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year gong the following season. He made his senior debut for the Turks & Caicos Islands in a 4-0 friendly defeat to the Dominican Republic in March 2018, and has gone on to win 24 caps for his country.
