The US Virgin Islands squad to play in the 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup has been
confirmed.
A provisional 17-man squad has been picked for the tournament, which will be held in Springdale, Arkansas between Wednesday, 13th August and Saturday, 16th August.
The Dashing Eagles start their 2025 Outrigger Challenger Cup campaign against fellow members of FIFA and CONCACAF the Turks & Caicos Islands in the opening game of the tournament on 13th August (7pm CDT).
They then face 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup ‘hosts’ the Marshall Islands, the last country in the world without a football team, on Thursday, 14th August (8pm CDT), before taking on MLS Next outfit Ozark United under-19s in the final game of the tournament on 16th August (4pm CDT).
The 2025 Outrigger Challenge Cup will be the US Virgin Islands’ first set of games since the final round of CONCACAF Nations League C Group A fixtures in Barbados in October 2024.
The Dashing Eagles’ suffered back-to-back defeats, losing 5-0 to host nation Barbados on 9th October before going down 3-1 to the Bahamas three days later. Forward Hasani Edgar grabbed the US Virgin Islands’ goal in the loss to the Baha Boyz.
This left the US Virgin Islands bottom of their three-team CONCACAF Nations League group, having taken just one point from four games.
The Dashing Eagles are ranked 207th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings and are led by head coach Terrence Jones Sr, a former US Virgin Islands international.
